Portfolios > Amassing of Loss

Used motor oil collected from individual cars, mixed with rainwater in laboratory jars, sealed, and tagged; collaged image of men working on a car; industrial first aid cabinet; industrial adsorbents embedded in petroleum wax.

Periodic "blockbuster" oil spills make headlines, cause major trauma, and monopolize public assistance and attention. Yet the majority of oil spilled into the world's oceans isn't escaped crude; %runoff& from roads is the source of most oil contamination in waterways. Common and constant smaller oil spills and runoff don't make news. They're too minor for anything but a band-aid, and a denial that small cuts, multiplied many repeated times, can indeed lead to massive damage.
